Introduction to k-ID

k-ID enables games to be compliant world-wide by providing jurisdiction-specific data from a comprehensive and current database of regulations to drive game behavior in 200+ markets. There are three main components in k-ID:

  • Global Compliance Database which contains the data representing the regulations
  • Global Compliance Engine which provides APIs to estimate the age of the player using Facial Age Estimation, allow players to request Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC), and tune the user experience to the player's age and jurisdiction
  • Family Portal where parents can grant consent and manage permissions for kids and teens

k-ID is highly customizable for the needs of the game in the markets it serves. Customization of policies, permissions, parental disclosures, and white-labeled parent experiences is done in the k-ID Publisher Portal.

This guide provides instructions for integrating the Global Compliance Engine API into your game, and configuring it for various scenarios related to kids compliance. Implementing these scenarios properly will help ensure compliance with regulations and provide a safer environment for kids and teens, while giving you control of what experience you want to provide your players. For reference, the detailed documentation for APIs described in this guide can be found at https://game-api.k-id.com/.
